Getting to Ortisei by Public Transport: Easy & Convenient Connections
Ortisei is incredibly well-connected by public transport. The town is easy to reach from major cities like Bolzano and Bressanone, making it convenient for visitors traveling without a car.

Wide Range of Family-Friendly Accommodation in Ortisei, Dolomites
Ortisei offers a variety of accommodations, from cozy hotels and guesthouses to luxurious resorts and family-friendly apartments.
Cable Cars Within Walking Distance in Ortisei, Italy
One of Ortisei’s unique features is the proximity of its cable cars. Many of the town’s ski lifts, including the Seceda and Alpe di Siusi cable cars, are just a short walk away, offering quick and easy access to the slopes and hiking trails, even for families with small children.
Mar Dolomit Swimming Pool: A Family Favorite in Ortisei
After a day of outdoor adventure, you can unwind at the Mar Dolomit Swimming Pool, which is open both in winter and summer. This wellness center features both indoor and outdoor pools, making it the perfect spot for relaxation.
Kids’ Snow Parks and Adventure Parks in Ortisei, Dolomites
Ortisei is a family-friendly destination, and its kids’ snow and adventure parks are a huge draw. I highly recommend checking out the local playgrounds—they're right in the town center, super convenient, and best of all, there's no need for a cable car ticket to get there.
Some of the playgrounds and adventure parks in Ortisei that are perfect for families include:
-
Parco Giochi Ortisei - Str. Sotria, 60, 39046 Ortisei BZ, Italy
Located in the heart of town, this charming playground is ideal for younger children. It features swings, slides, climbing structures, and plenty of space to run around. Plus, it’s just a short stroll from cafés and shops—perfect for a relaxing break while the kids play. -
Adventure Park & Fly Line " Emozion Col de Flam"
Just a few minutes from the center of Ortisei, this adventure park is packed with fun for all ages. -
If you're visiting Ortisei in winter, don't miss the chance to try one of the longest sledge runs in Italy – Rasciesa, stretching for an impressive 4.9 kilometers. To reach it, head to the Rasciesa funicular station in Ortisei. You can rent a sledge right next to the ticket office before boarding the funicular (note: it's a train, not a cable car). The ride includes a middle stop – don’t get off there! That’s actually where you’ll return after sledging down from the top. Once you're at the summit, enjoy the exhilarating descent and then decide whether to head back up for another round or call it a day and return to the base. Depending on snow conditions, we highly recommend bringing protective glasses – the ride can get fast, and snow and ice often splash up into your face. After just three runs, we were already worn out, so in our opinion, a full-day ticket isn’t really necessary. If you already have a Dolomiti Superski Pass or Val Gardena Pass, you can use it for the Rasciesa funicular as well.

Discover Ortisei’s Rich Culture and History in the Dolomites
Ortisei is home to a rich cultural heritage, which is visible in its charming architecture and historic landmarks. The town is known for its wood-carving traditions, and you can visit local shops and museums to learn about its craftsmanship and history.
Having considered all that this town has to offer, it’s not difficult to imagine that Ortisei is also one of the most expensive towns in the area.
However, if you’re renting a car and don’t mind a short drive, there are more budget-friendly options just 15 minutes away. Nearby villages still offer incredible views and access to the same trails and ski lifts — but without the premium cost.
Ortisei is absolutely worth visiting, but with a little planning, you can experience its magic without blowing your entire travel budget.
Family Events in the Dolomites 2026
11-13 September 2026 | Canazei
The Gran Festa da d’Istà is a vibrant end-of-summer celebration held in Canazei, bringing together Ladin communities from Val di Fassa and the valleys surrounding the Sella massif. Over three days, visitors can enjoy traditional Ladin cuisine, live folk music, and cultural entertainment in a warm alpine atmosphere.
The highlight of the festival takes place on Sunday at 3:00 p.m., when around a thousand participants — including brass bands and folk groups — parade through the town centre in beautifully preserved traditional costumes. Decorated carriages and colourful floats add to the spectacle, creating a joyful and authentic celebration of Ladin heritage that is especially captivating for families and children.
18-20 September 2026 | Moena, Soraga & Predazzo (Trentino)
A three-day festival dedicated to the renowned Puzzone di Moena PDO cheese, featuring tastings, food tours, show cooking, open-air lunches and family-friendly workshops. Visitors can enjoy guided dairy visits, live demonstrations and culinary events across the Fassa and Fiemme valleys.
The highlight is the traditional Desmontegada cattle parade — Saturday 19 September in Soraga and Sunday 20 September in Moena — when festively decorated cows and other livestock return from the alpine pastures, accompanied by folk music and local groups.
