After a day of exploring museums and wandering through the porticos, Turin’s historic cafes are the perfect place to unwind and enjoy some traditional Italian treats. Turin is home to over 40 historic cafes, many of which have been serving delicious pastries and hot beverages for over a century.

  • Caffè Torino: One of the most famous cafes in the city, Caffè Torino is a great spot to relax with a cup of hot chocolate (a local specialty) or a warm coffee while savoring a bicerin, a layered drink made from coffee, chocolate, and milk.

  • Caffè Al Bicerin: This charming café is where the famous bicerin was born. It’s a cozy spot to enjoy this warming drink, and children will love the rich taste of the creamy chocolate and coffee concoction.

  • Farmacia Caffè: Have you ever tried a square croissant? It’s a whole new twist on a classic, and you’ll find it at Farmacia Caffè in Turin! I had no idea square croissants were a thing until we happened upon a massive queue outside the café. A quick Google search revealed it was famous for its unique square and sphere croissants, so we thought, why not give it a try? The next day, we braved a 40-minute wait in the rain—just to be told they were running out of croissants! Luckily, we snagged the last ones. The café’s charm isn’t just in its creative croissants. The name "Farmacia" remains because they’re not allowed to change the sign—it was once an actual pharmacy. Over time, this quirky detail has become an integral part of the café’s charm, attracting visitors from all over who come for a taste of something unique and to experience a piece of Turin’s history.
